Description:

Lively, interactive and just a little intoxicating, the DDR Museum presents life in the former GDR as it was experienced by ordinary people. Omitting nothing from its honest appraisal, the exhibition provides an insight into the world of Real Existing Socialism – the Free German Youth, the Stasi, tower blocks, a Trabant, the political opposition and much more. Journey back in time not just to view, but experience this past – dance the Lipsi or rummage through the cupboards of an authentic GDR living room. Touch, hold, smell and feel – interaction is the operative word!

Cold War Interests:

The exhibition of the DDR Museum shows live in a socialistic dictatorship and how people managed to live with the consequences of the leadership of the SED regime. Further, many events such as readings or discussions aim to elucidate different aspects of life in the GDR.
